Jacques Villeneuve making an attempt to qualify for Daytona 500


Former System One and Indianapolis 500 champion Jacques Villeneuve is reportedly making an attempt to qualify for the Daytona 500.

Villeneuve, 50, took half in pre-season testing driving the No. 27 Ford on the Daytona Seaside observe on Tuesday and Wednesday, in keeping with NASCAR.com, in an try and qualify for the Nice American Race.

“It might be superb,” Villeneuve, a local of St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Que., informed NASCAR.com. “The final time I used to be in NASCAR in North America was fairly just a few years, I feel it was Sonoma (Raceway) the final time, so it was quite a lot of years in the past.

Villeneuve is trying to qualify with the Netherlands-based part-time Workforce Hezeberg, whose main driver is Loris Hezemans.

Villeneuve, whose father is the late F1 legend Gilles Villeneuve, most notably received the 1995 Indianapolis 500 and the 1997 System One championship, the latter on the power of seven race wins and 10 pole positions. He has raced on quite a lot of circuits since leaving F1 full-time in 2006, together with what’s now known as the NASCAR Xfinity Sequence, IndyCar, Le Mans and the final two seasons within the NASCAR Whelen Euro Sequence.
